Every one of Monk’s notes in here may as well be gospel, but one that stood out for me:
“A genius is the one most like himself.

Can you identify a genius given only their scrawlings?

“don’t play everything (or everytime); let some things go by.”


“stay in shape! sometimes a musician waits for a gig & when it comes, he’s out of shape & can’t make it.” [one of my defining traits as a musician and a person.]
